Native Textile Plants of the Western US

Project Type

Research

Date

September 2026

My PhD research explores the intersections of textiles, ecology, and cultural knowledge through an applied anthropology lens, with a focus on native fiber plants such as dogbane (Apocynum spp.) in western North America. Combining ethnobiology, material culture studies, environmental anthropology, and hands-on fiber practice, I examine how textile traditions reflect relationships between land stewardship, community knowledge, and environmental change.
